Fleet Damage
Managing vehicle fleets efficiently and ensuring that each vehicle remains in pristine condition is paramount. Whether for rental companies, dealerships, or fleet management services, identifying and assessing vehicle damage quickly and accurately can save substantial time and costs. At the forefront of this technological advancement is our Visual Intelligence (VI) system, a cutting-edge solution akin to facial recognition AI, but specifically designed for vehicle damage detection.
The Challenge
Every day, approximately 4.5 million vans are operating on the UK’s road, boosted in recent years by the rise in home deliveries. Fleets can be hired in, leased to franchisees, etc but rarely driver owned which can to lead to apathy when it comes to reporting new damage.
Fleets who value their vehicles require a thorough inspection to detect any new damage. These inspections involve photographing each vehicle twice. This could be once at the beginning and once at the end of the shift, daily, weekly to suit the business. The goal is to compare these images to identify any new scratches, dents, or other damage that may have occurred. Accurate damage detection is crucial, as it directly impacts maintenance costs and vehicle availability.
Our Solution
We leverage Visual Intelligence to streamline this process. Our advanced AI system scans the photographs, detecting anomalies such as dents, scrapes or perhaps cracked glass with remarkable accuracy. This technology is particularly effective for minor damages typically seen in hire and de-fleeting scenarios, where issues are more likely to be bumps and scrapes rather than severe accident damage.
To ensure reliability, human engineers support the AI by reviewing cases where the AI’s confidence level falls below a certain threshold. This hybrid approach combines the speed of AI with the expertise of human oversight, ensuring the highest accuracy in damage detection.
Cost Assessment
Once damage is identified, the associated repair cost is determined using either a fixed pricing matrix or a professional estimating system like Audatex. For this proposal, we suggest using a fixed pricing matrix to keep costs manageable while still providing accurate estimates. This method is sufficient for the minor damages we typically encounter.
Damage Categorisation
Our system also categorises the extent of the damage. This categorisation allows fleet managers to make informed decisions about necessary repairs based on brand guidelines, the availability of smart repairs, and the roadworthiness of the vehicle. This level of detail ensures that repairs are prioritised effectively, maintaining the fleet’s overall quality and safety, while considering the vehicle-off-road times.
Management Information
Our Visual Intelligence system offers a transformative solution for vehicle damage assessment. By harnessing the power of AI, we deliver rapid, accurate, and cost-effective inspections, ensuring your fleet remains in top condition. This innovative approach not only enhances operational efficiency but also provides significant savings, making it an invaluable tool for modern fleet management.
