We talk to Adam Philpotts about his attack on the Three Sisters Circuit earlier this year:
“Coming to my second rally on the back of a brilliant result a few weeks ago I was aiming to produce the same at this rally, unfortunately my normal co driver Tom could not attend this event so my father stepped in to take his place!
We started fantastically and exceeded our own expectations setting 4th fastest stage time in our class on stage 1 our of 18 entrants, some feat in what is basically a standard Nissan Micra!
Unfortunately the event took a turn for the worse when on stage two we took a wrong split and completed an extra lap of the stage, putting us dead last in our class and overall. This put a bit of a dampener on the day when there was still 10 stages left to run!
We set 4th fastest stage time in class again on stage 3 but would unfortunately repeat stage 2’s error again on stage 4! This in our eyes was pretty much the end of the rally now as we had a two minute deficit to our competitors and lay 17th in class.
We kept going to gain abit more time in the seat and see how many positions we could climb back up the order. We set 4th fastest times in class over the next 8 stages and managed to get back up to 10th in class, a good achievement considering where we lay after stage 4 but we couldn’t help think what could have been if we hadn’t made those costly errors earlier on in the day.
Overall it was a fantastic event and a good opportunity to see what upgrades where required to the car for the next rally, The GEG Promenade stages, New Brighton on the 7/8th of September!”
